A Piece of Cake – Book Tour

Hallo und willkommen bei meinem Stop auf der Buch Tour von Peta Pieces neuem Buch A Piece of Cake – Sweet and Simple Quilts from Layer Cake Squares. Kennst du Petas Blog She Quilts Alot? Sie hat einen wunderbar frischen Stil und macht einfach die schönsten Quilts! Ihr erster – aber ganz sicher nicht letzter – Titel beinhaltet verschiedene Quilts und Projekte, die hauptsächlich aus Layer Cake Quadraten gemacht werden. Ein Layer Cake ist ein vorgeschnittenes Stoffpaket in der Größe von 10″ x 10″ (25,4 x 25,4 cm). Diese sogenannten “Precuts” gibt es in verschiedenen Größen, du kennst sie sicher alle: ganze Stoffkollektionen werden in Fat Quarter Bundlen, Layer Cakes oder Charm Packs angeboten. Das praktische an diesen Paketen ist, dass sie einem die oft so schwere “Arbeit” des Stoffauswählens zumindest teilweise abnehmen – und die einzelnen Muster und Farben sind ja in der Regel so aufeinander abgestimmt, dass sich daraus wunderbar ein Quilt machen lässt.
Die Schnittmuster in Petas Buch sind einfach aber effektvoll und schnell herzustellen. Mir hat der Surprise Quilt besonders gut gefallen, ein Muster das stilisierte Geschenke darstellt. Und da ich mal wieder ein kleines Geschenk gebraucht habe, hab ich einfach einen der Blocks in ein 12″ x 12″ (30 x 30 cm) großes Kissen umgewandelt – natürlich mit Stoffen meiner aktuellen Kollektion Arbor Blossom, an der ich mich noch lange nicht sattgenäht habe! Und Eddu Schnuffel, unser kleiner norwegischer Eisbär, freut sich über seine neue Fliege…! 🙂

Hello and welcome to my stop at the book tour of Peta Piece’s new book A Piece of Cake – Sweet and Simple Quilts from Layer Cake Squares published by Martingale. Have you been to Peta’s blog She Quilts Alot before? Her style is cheerful and fresh and she makes the most beautiful quilts! So here’s her first, but most likely not her last book! The projects are made from Layer Cake squares only – they are simple, but effective and easy to make! I really love the Surprise Quilt pattern and since I needed a little present, I decided to turn one of these cute blocks, that look like a wrapped gift into a 12″ x 12″ pillow. I just love how it turned out! I used fabrics from my current fabric line Arbor Blossom – still not tired of sewing with them! 🙂 And Eddu Schnuffel, our little norwegian polarbear just loves his brand new bow tie…!
